I have endeavoured to convey what it was really like to work within the NHS, and the many changes that have affected my working life. This autobiography is a record of my nursing career, from 1978 to 2014. It encapsulates a unique insight into nursing from a clinician's viewpoint. Right from the start of my career in the first chapter there are interesting, thought provoking and funny incidents that have occurred, and I hope the content will appeal to a wide range of readers.

An enjoyable read that does not get bogged down Myles Douglas-Withers (mylesdw@hotmail.com) I would be easy for a book with this title to get bogged down in politics and medical detail but this one avoids those pitfalls and is a most enjoyable read that moves along at a brisk pace. There is enough detail that I am sure anyone in the health profession would find it interesting but not so much that a layman
