AWESOME!!! A week before my first sleep study, I got this book -- and all I can say is "Thank God for the information in there." It is written in "english" that I understand - not "doctor-ease"! I went to my first sleep study knowing what to expect. I went to the second one knowing what to expect. I went for my pulmonologist appointment, knowing what to ask and look at with my hypnogram (a word that I learned from the book and then used with my doctor, and he was astonished!!!) The experience of being on the CPAP machine fo. VERY useful book Lots of good information, presented in clear language. One of the authors is a patient, and I found his comments particularly helpful - especially his notes about how we ALL hate the CPAP equipment, but there are good reasons to continue to struggle with it, to explore better options, etc. because the tradeoff for better sleep, better quality of life, and better prognosis for longterm wellness, make it worth while. Lots of pictures, excellent explanations throughout. Highly recommended.. extremely helpful I was diagnosed with sleep apnea recently. A sleep specialist friend recommended this book and I must say it is full of solid information that is useful in understanding sleep apnea. I particularly appreciated the section where many questions, concerns, difficulties about sleep apnea and the CPAP machines are discussed. Rather than always having to contact my sleep center doctor or the medical equipment company, answers were found in this book. I would buy it again or suggest to anyone with sleep apnea.
