Not as good as I'd hoped. Marti C I'm so disappointed to only be able to give this 2 stars. I had looked forward to reading something written by Staci Stallings, but I was set off right from the first page. So many people to try and wrap my head around as to who was who and who went with who. One thing that drove me crazy was the number of times throughout the story that the heroine touches her hair-she flips it over her shoulder, puts it back in front, wears it in a braid, runs her hand through it, flips it over her shoulder, etc. I was, as others have mentioned, surprised at the amount of drinking or mention of drinking that took place in the story. I also though. "heart-rending story, sweet characters" according to Josey Jacques. Staci creates such emotion in her characters, such sweetness and such realistic inner conflict! You can’t help but fall in love with the characters in her stories.However, she WA-AY overdoes metaphors (and sometimes they almost don’t make sense) and she needs to go through the manuscript with a fine-toothed comb (text-to-speech works great, too) and do some editing. AJ, a would be rock star, now a Paramedic driving an ambulance also just making it from day to day. With the help of their mutual friends they meet and the sparks start to fly. The friends play a part in this unlikely love story, bringing humor and their own kind of love for each other and the two unlikely lovers. I only read happy endings - real life doesn't always offer this for me - this book left me feeling happy!
